VETERANS OF AMERICA

We've had a busy few weeks here at IAVA!  Earlier this month, IAVA member vet Cara Hammer Campbell sat with President Obama and VA Secretary McDonald at a roundtable at the Phoenix VA . It's not every day you meet the Leader of the Free World, but Cara took the opportunity to advocate for improved accountability among VA employees, and changes the VA must make to address the unique needs of female veterans.  Then last week, we unveiled our new data visualization website,  The Wait We Carry 2.0. Veterans are more than statistics, and this tool helps showcase real stories veterans shared with us about using VA health care and the disability claims process. If you haven't already, take a look and share your story.    Finally, on the 12th anniversary of the Iraq War, IAVA joined Reps. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) and Scott Perry (R-Pa.) for the launch of the Congressional Post-9/11 Veterans Caucus in D.C. For years, IAVA has been pushing for the creation of a new vets caucus, and we believe this group of veteran lawmakers will help push for real policy solutions to our community's challenges.   If you haven't already, join us! We're approaching 400,000 total members - which is a huge milestone when you think that I started this organization out of my kitchen 10 years ago!
