ABSURD! Liberal Dem Wants to Ban Word “Alien” From Federal Government Use …It’s Offensive
(KENS) – There are aliens among us, at least according the United States government.
On a rainy day, Maria Elena Castro, likes some Mexican sweet bread. She doesn’t like that the U.S. government considers her an “alien.”
“I feel like when somebody says, ‘You’re an alien…” I feel like [I'm from another] planet,” Castro said.
Castro is a legal U.S. permanent resident.
The word ”alien” is still used to refer to both legal and undocumented immigrants by the federal government. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website refers to legal immigrants as ”permanent resident aliens.” Castro said the government she pays taxes to shouldn’t offend her.
“I don’t feel good when I listen to somebody call me that,” said Castro.
The U.S. government defines an “alien” as any person who is not a citizen or national of the United States. The government has been using the phrase since 1790.
U.S. Congressman Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio) is working on legislation to ban the word from government use. He wants the government to replace it with the term “foreign national” or “undocumented foreign national.”
Some San Antonians believe the change is a waste of time.
“We all are grown adults, and we know what things are,” Albert Eargas said.
Representative Castro said there is precedent for this. His office said the words “lunatic” and “mentally retarded” have also been banned from use by the federal government.
