1/3 of Americans say Special Interests Control Over Government is Full Blown Crisis
“Undoubtedly fueling the rise of unconventional presidential candidates”
(Infowars) – A new Gallup poll reveals that a third of Americans believe the power special interests now hold over government is a full blown crisis.
A total of 33 percent of respondents across the political spectrum said that special interests having too much control over what the government does has reached crisis level.
A further 51 percent say they view the issue as a “major problem,” meaning that a huge majority of 84 percent are deeply worried about the government being controlled by private entities.
Just 13 percent said that they see little or no problem in the matter.
In addition, close to a third of respondents also believe that the “failure of the government to solve major challenges” as well as representatives acting in the interest of their political party, rather than the country, also constitute crises.
“Americans’ frustration with the federal government has been a rising force in politics,” Gallup notes.
“These major concerns about the workings of Washington are undoubtedly fueling the rise of unconventional presidential candidates in the 2016 election.” Gallup continues.
“Such perceptions could produce unexpected outcomes in the various phases of the 2016 presidential election, such as a political outsider or “anti-establishment” candidate winning the presidency.” the report concludes.
Previous recent polls revealed that six in ten Americans believe that the federal government has grown too powerful, with a record number of Americans now viewing Congress as corrupt, and trust in government hitting all time low.
