(Conservative Tribune) – Recently, presidential candidate Donald Trump has been hammered for his inability to beat Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton in a head-to-head matchup. But newly released statistics of a hypothetical matchup between Trump and Clinton suggest otherwise.
According to a Newsmax/Fabrizio, Lee & Associates survey, among registered independents, Trump leads with a commanding 47 percent, while Clinton misses the mark with a lowly 31 percent.
In terms of polling all political parties, Clinton gets the edge with 45 percent to Trump’s 44 percent. The biggest takeaway from this poll, however, is the spike in independent voters’ commitment to Trump.
Most political pundits have previously stated that Trump’s pompous nature and angry persona would alienate independents, causing Clinton to run away with the presidency. And most head-to-head polls show Clinton beating Trump one-on-one by anything from 5 to 13 percent.
Well, they could be very, very wrong.
“They don’t necessarily like him. But they dislike her more,” Tony Fabrizio, a past master of four presidential campaigns and co-founder and partner of the polling firm Fabrizio, Lee & Associates, told Newsmax.
Fabrizio bluntly stated that Trump could easily come away with general election victory.
“The voter anger is leaking over to the general, absolutely,” says Fabrizio. “Independents want somebody who is going to speak their mind just as much as Republicans do.
“Looking at responses that measure the frustration level people have with politics and politicians, there’s no question that independents, while maybe not as frustrated as Republicans, are far closer to Republicans on their level of frustration than they are to Democrats,” he said.
Whether this demand for accountability, strength and business acumen will carry Donald Trump to the White House, we can’t know for sure.
However, people are starting to see the lack of transparency and human decency in Hillary Clinton.
