Cuban Regime Organizes Act of Repudiation Against Iliana Hernández
DEC 9, 2020 —
December 8, 2020. A crowd called by the Cuban regime gathered in front of the house of the opposition Iliana Hernández to make an act of repudiation as can be seen in the images that Hernández shared through CiberCuba.
Hernández, who resides in the town of Cojímar, confirmed that none of those present were from the area, which confirms the practices of the regime: gathering people from outside the neighborhood to try to intimidate and denigrate the dissident.
In the images, music is heard in the background and people in charge of organizing and conducting the embarrassing show are visible. There are Cuban flags, posters with official slogans, among other features with which Castroism adorns these events.
Hernández has been under strict police surveillance and forced to stay at her home since she was released by the regime on November 26 at night.
Hours before, the police and State Security evicted the headquarters of the San Isidro Movement, where he was with a dozen peaceful protesters, who demanded the release of the rebellious musician Denis Solís.
The day before, she had denounced the movements of the agents around her house through a short video.
The independent media have reached the complaints of the professors Omara Ruiz Urquiola and Anamely Ramos, the artist Luis Manuel Otero, the collaborator of ADN Cuba Esteban Rodríguez, among others.
The San Isidro Movement demonstrations began on November 18, as a means of demanding the release of Solís, who was unjustly imprisoned and subjected to a summary trial, without legal guarantees. In response, several members of the organization began a hunger strike.
The eviction of the large house located in Damas 955 provoked a protest by several artists and intellectuals before the Ministry of Culture in favor of more freedom and respect for opposition movements, branded by some as too conciliatory with the regime and celebrated by others for its content contestatory.
