Indiana churches vandalized with Muslim graffiti attacking Christ, 'infidels'

On Sunday, WTHR reported that three churches in Columbus, Indiana, were hit with Muslim graffiti in the same night. According to the report, vandals spray-painted "infidels" with a verse from the Quran.
Father Doug Marcotte of Saint Bartholomew's Catholic Church, said the verse mentioned specifically deals with those seen by Muslims as "infidels." According to WTHR, the verse reads: "We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve for what they have associated with Allah of which He had not sent down [any] authority. And their refuge will be the Fire, and wretched is the residence of the wrongdoers."
“It's certainly not a warm and fuzzy verse," Father Marcotte said. "It talks about the infidels, their refuge being the fire."
Two other churches -- East Columbus Christian Church and Lakeview Church of Christ -- were hit by vandals, WTHR said. Father Marcotte told WTHR it was odd the other two churches were hit.
"It's not like we're all in a line," he said. "So why did they pick the three of us?"
“Is there somebody that really believes this that we're all infidels so they felt the need to write it all over our church?" he asked. “Is this some sort of nasty prank? Is this someone that's trying to incite people against Muslims? I mean I don't know,” he added.
Police in Columbus say they're looking at surveillance video for clues. They also did not say if federal authorities have been notified.
Priests at St. Bartholomew's say local Muslims have contacted them to condemn the graffiti and extend offers to help clean it up. WTHR said anyone with information about the vandalism is encouraged to contact police.
Pamela Gellar was far more direct, excoriating the media for what she called a "pathetic" attempt to cover up Islamic texts and teachings. She explained that one verse quoted by vandals -- Quran 19:88 -- is a direct attack on Jesus Christ.
"Those who say: ‘The Lord of Mercy has begotten a son,’ preach a monstrous falsehood, at which the very heavens might crack, the earth break asunder, and the mountains crumble to dust," the verse says, according to Gellar. "That they should ascribe a son to the Merciful, when it does not become the Lord of Mercy to beget one!"
