Majority believe U.S. more exceptional than other nations
(Washington Examiner) – One in two likely voters either don’t believe that President Obama loves the country he leads or aren’t sure enough to say, according to a new poll out Tuesday.
Rasmussen Reports, in testing former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s charge last week that Obama doesn’t love America, found that 35 percent don’t believe that the president loves his country and another 14 percent aren’t sure.
But a slight majority, 51 percent, disagree, and believe the president loves America.
That’s not bad for the president, but is far less than the 92 percent in the poll who said they love the country.
Naturally, Giuliani’s charge, embraced by many conservatives and condemned by many liberals, splits on political lines.
Rasmussen said that 62 percent of Republican voters do not believe Obama loves America, while 77 percent of Democrats and 48 percent of “unaffiliated voters” say that’s not true.
What may not be good for the president is how many people still remain undecided about the man who has been president for over six years: Some 8 percent of Democrats, 14 percent of Republicans and 19 percent of unaffiliated don’t have an opinion on his love for the country, found Rasmussen.
