The summit marked a renewed unity among Cuban exile leaders to back Cuba Decide's strategy and leadership in the movement to liberate Cuba. Rosa María Payá, Secretary General Almagro, and Cuban exile leaders also jointly announced Cuba Decide's forthcoming petitions to the US government and OAS member states not to recognize the Castro regime's succession and to exclude the regime from the upcoming 2018 Summit of the Americas. Secretary General Almagro's speech featured the strongest condemnations against the Castro regime from any sitting OAS leader, a historic diplomatic statement that reflects the Castro regime's growing isolation and Cuba Decide's ability to align the hemisphere in a resolute strategy to democratize Cuba. Held at the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora, the summit featured the Bacardi Family Foundation, El Instituto La Rosa Blanca, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, and prominent Cuban exile leaders such as former Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Commission Chair Esteban Bovo Jr., Commissioner Rebeca Sosa, Commissioner Bruno Barreiro, Commissioner Vince Lago, Honorable Jose Felix Diaz, Ambassador Otto Reich, Ana Carbonell, Gus Monje, Dr. Omar & Josefina Vento, Victor Pujals, Dr. Vicente Lago and the next generation of emerging Cuban-American leaders.
