Breaking: Eight Years Of Trump’s Tax Returns Subpoenaed By Crooked Manhattan DA Cy Vance

(Gateway Pundit) – The crooked Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. subpoenaed eight years of Trump’s tax returns and corporate income tax returns, according to a new report by the New York Times.

According to The Times, Cy Vance’s office issued the subpoena last month to Trump’s accounting firm Mazars USA.

Last month the DA opened a criminal investigation into Trump’s role in the ‘hush payments’ made to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal.

The state prosecutors are seeking a range of tax documents from the accounting firm, Mazars USA, including Mr. Trump’s personal returns and those of his business, the Trump Organization. The subpoena seeks federal and state returns for both the president and the company dating back to 2011, the people said.

The investigation by Mr. Vance has been focused on $130,000 that Mr. Cohen paid Ms. Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, just before the election. Mr. Cohen pleaded guilty last year to breaking federal campaign finance laws and received a three-year prison sentence.

In particular, the state prosecutors are examining whether the company falsely accounted for the reimbursements as a legal expense. In New York, filing a false business record can be a crime.

But it becomes a felony only if prosecutors can prove that the false filing was made to commit or conceal another crime, such as tax violations or bank fraud. The tax returns and other documents sought from Mazars could shed light on whether any state laws were broken. Such subpoenas also routinely request related documents in connection with the returns.

A shell company formed by Trump’s former lawyer-turned-snake Michael Cohen made payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal during the 2016 election to allegedly buy their silence about affairs they had with Donald Trump more than a decade ago.

It is unclear if the District Attorney has already received Trump’s tax returns.

Even if the Manhattan DA obtained Trump’s tax returns, they may not be released to the public because they could be covered in secrecy rules that protect grand jury material — unless the documents are used as evidence in a criminal case.

The Democrats have been fiercely working to get Trump’s tax returns for years without any success — and Trump’s refusal to disclose his tax returns has caused the Dems to go into overdrive.

The Constitution does not require that a presidential candidate or a sitting US president release their tax returns, however the Democrats have been gunning for the tax docs to continue their witch hunt against Trump.
