Shalom, Eduardo,
Convert to Islam, flee Iraq, or be killed. Those were the choices given to 16-year-old Maryam and her family…simply for being Christian. Maryam and her family immediately fled with only the clothes on their backs. They later learned that ISIS destroyed their entire village.
As I share that story with you, I believe you will see why I’m urgently asking you to join our vital emergency effort to aid families like Maryam’s who have fled from Iraq to Jordan for their very lives.
Eduardo, Maryam and her family are barely surviving in Jordan. They’re facing a “lesser nightmare” of fear, suffering, and daily despair as they pray and hope against hope for their Christian brothers and sisters to provide food, medicine, and shelter.
Maryam’s father Alaa cannot work in Jordan. He has no way to support his family. Every week he goes to the United Nations office to see about resettling somewhere else. Every week they turn him away.
Because we can count on friends like you to take action with us, we stepped out in faith and rushed to help when we were alerted to their needs. As you can imagine, the conditions in Jordan are constantly changing, and certain to be getting worse as ISIS continues its genocide against Christians in the Middle East.
But the urgency is great and the needs are far exceeding the supply.
You can save the life of someone like innocent Maryam with your gift today to provide food, medicine, and shelter. This aid is a lifeline for people like Maryam who have nowhere else to turn for help.
Clearly, the time has come for us to answer the Bible’s call to, “Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter” (Proverbs 24:11), and “Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked” (Psalm 82:4).
We must do more.
Just as we continue to combat anti-Semitism, so must we fight this growing persecution against Christians throughout the Middle East. We cannot and we will not sit idly by while our Christian brethren are suffering.
Your gift at this critical time will help meet the emergency needs of persecuted Christians like Maryam as ISIS spreads more terror across the Middle East.
I ask that you make your gift today — right now as you read this. And allow me to say thank you for showing compassion to our persecuted Christian brothers and sisters who are suffering in unconscionable ways. |
With prayers for shalom, peace,
Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein Founder and President |
