Federal Judge on Traditional Marriage Supporters: You Savages!
Traditional marriage laws in Indiana and Wisconsin may be at risk judging by arguments before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago.
(One News Now) – Federal courts overturned Indiana’s marriage laws and Wisconsin’s constitutional amendment protecting marriage as a union of one man and one woman, sending the case to the 7th Circuit and Judge Richard Posner.
Prohibiting same-sex “marriage” “is a tradition of hate and savage discrimination,” Posner said from the bench, comparing bans on same-sex “marriage” to barring blacks and whites from marrying.
“There’s nothing hateful about saying children need a mom and a dad, or that men and women are different,” responds Micah Clark of the American Family Association of Indiana responds.
SPECIAL: Modern Day Patriots, this is the time to stand shoulder to shoulder with our forefathers in Lexington and Concord. We need the Tea Party now more than ever.
“It’s not about equality,” insists Clark. “If men and women were the same, it would be about equality. It is about the unique differences that men and women bring to this relationship.”
In 2008 then-candidate Barack Obama was interviewed by Pastor Rick Warren and famously stated that he believed that “marriage is the union between a man and a woman.”
According to Posner, that would put the President in the same category of hating and discriminating – before Obama “evolved” on the issue.
The Associated Press reported that Posner was “dismissive” when Timothy Samuelson, the assistant attorney general for Wisconsin, pointed to “tradition” to justify traditional marriage.
Samuelson also pointed to biology, pointing out that “men and women make babies,” and same-sex couples do not.
“We have to have a mechanism to regulate that and marriage is that mechanism,” Samuelson told the court, referring to procreation.
Posner was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and has been described as a “conservative” jurist.
He told National Public Radio in 2012 that there has been “deterioration in conservative thinking” in the GOP, blaming that for making him less conservative.
Micah Clark contends the U.S. Supreme Court needs to take up the issue and decide it once and for all.
