In Hanau yesterday, young men “with full beards” attacked passers-by with knives; four of the victims ended up in the emergency room that night. Two suspects have already been arrested.

The Hanau police reported last night: After around 10 p.m. in the emergency department of the Hanau Clinic, four people with injuries, including stab wounds, appeared in quick succession; the police are currently looking for several men. The police helicopter was also used in the search. According to initial knowledge, passersby were independently in the areas of Leimenstraße / Langstraße, Hirschstraße and Freiheitsplatz when they met a group of five to seven strangers and were attacked.
Full beards

Almost all the perpetrators are said to have beards. One is about 20 years old, 1.90 meters tall and muscular. He has dark blonde hair and wore shorts. The four injured men are aged 17, 23 (2x) and 26. According to current knowledge, none of them are in mortal danger. The Hanau public prosecutor’s office has taken over the investigation.

This morning, the police reported: “After four people with injuries, including stab wounds, appeared last night in the clinic in Hanau (as we reported), the police arrested two suspects, according to a witness. The two Hanauers, aged 23 and 29, are currently in custody. The Hanau public prosecutor and the Hanau criminal police have taken over the ongoing investigations.”

According to information from the Bildzeitung, the two arrested “Hanauer” are Syrians. The victims also have a migrant background. Were the perpetrators a kind of “Shariah police” that monitored Ramadan in Hanau?

According to Focus, the prosecutor’s office has now confirmed that the arrested men are Syrians.

And further: “There is as yet no information on the background of the crime,” explains the spokesman for the prosecutor. “At the moment we have no evidence that the attacks have a political or xenophobic background,” said Mies. So far, Mies has not been able to confirm reports that the attacks were preceded by a dispute in a Turkish snack bar in downtown Hanau.” (Source)
