Fellow Conservative, It's a dangerous precedent when the President of the United States is allowed to break laws he doesn't agree with. It's equally disturbing when funding for his illegal act is made possible by a single vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Last Thursday, the House had two chances to stop the $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that contained funding for President Obama's unconstitutional amnesty program for five million illegal immigrants. The first vote just to bring the bill to the House floor was actually being defeated – until a Congressman was allowed to switch his vote in the final moments, paving the way for its passage later that evening. I not only voted against the omnibus and against letting it on the House floor, I also wrote an amendment with two other Congressmen to strip the amnesty funding out of the bill (read that brief story here). Although we got about 70 other very concerned House cosponsors on board in the span of just 24 hours, our amendment was never allowed to be voted on! That was truly frustrating, as the House leadership on both sides previously agreed it was illegal for the president to enact amnesty without Congress. Even the president himself said repeatedly he didn't have the authority. Despite that, he acted anyway. When the new Congress convenes in January, we'll try again to stop Obama's illegal amnesty program and other parts of his overreach agenda from moving forward. I believe we can stop them, but I need your help to do that. I was just sworn in November 12th after I won a historic primary upset over the former House Majority Leader and then won my general election by 24 points. I wasn't elected just because I disagree with amnesty and because I believe in following the Constitution, but also because I'm a free market economist, and I know how much amnesty, Obamacare, and reckless federal spending are threatening our very freedom and destroying our economy. As Congress's only economist and an educator, I see my mission as one of helping to inform the public about how Washington's proposed taxes, regulations, and spending will affect their wallets and their liberty, as well as offering positive economic ideas to help jumpstart our economy. I want to get those messages out in plain language through the media, social media, and other shareable formats.  If more Americans were aware of how bills like the omnibus affected them, their members of Congress could more easily cut through the Democrat misinformation machine and have the support of their constituents to vote the right way. If that had happened last week, maybe just one Congressman would have changed his or her vote in the other direction, and Obama's illegal amnesty would have been defeated. Washington is broken. My constituents sent me there to help fix it, but I can't do this alone. Although it's not the typical fundraising season, the free market, constitutional message is a message that needs to be heard year-round, and it's a message that doesn't get out on its own. That's why I'm asking for your contribution today.
