Three children, 7, 8 and 10 from Syria, where wounded as a shell exploded in the house yard where they had been playing. All alone and severely wounded, they crossed the border and were taken to Ziv Medical Center in Safed. Additional children who had been playing with them were killed in the explosion.
The human tragedy in Syria was again revealed before the Israeli doctors: three kids from Syria crossed the border on their own, wounded severely and critically, and were taken by IDF soldiers to Ziv Medical Center in Safed.
The children were injured yesterday as a shell exploded in the house yard where they had been playing. Several additional kids who had been playing with them were killed and left on Syrian grounds.
One of the children, 7 years-old and critically injured, was taken to the hospital's emergency room. He was suffering from a chest wound and an open hand fracture. An additional child, 10 years-old, was also critically injured with shred wounds all over his body including one in his head, and a clavicle fracture. An 8 year-old girl was evacuated to the hospital in severe condition with an open leg fracture.
The Syrian kids are currently being treated in the hospital's emergency room, after which they will perform a line of examinations and X-rays, and will be taken to the operating rooms for further treatment.
So far the Ziv Medical Center doctors in Sefad have treated 376 Syrian citizens who crossed the border in the Golan Heights. The raging civil war in Syria continues to toll many victims, as the number of casualties since the fighting began, according to the U.N. estimations, reaches 190,000.
