3 Americans Kidnapped in Iraq… White House Panics When They See Who’s Behind It
(Gateway Pundit) – Obama’s White House sure has an odd way of picking allies. When Israel, America’s strongest ally in the Middle East for decades, decided to stick with conservative leader Benjamin Netanyahu, Obama did almost everything to sabotage it. In their stead, they chose a new BFF: Iran, a Shia theocracy where “death to America!” chants can be heard as often as the call to prayer.
And what a BFF they’ve been. After all, they gave America a nuclear deal (that doesn’t actually take away their ability to make a nuclear weapon), captured 10 U.S. sailors but let them go after they forced America to apologize (and the female sailor to wear a hijab) and participated in a prisoner swap where four Americans in Iran were released for the dropping of charges or clemency for 21 Iranians (but who’s counting?).
Now, three Americans have been kidnapped in Baghdad — and according to the Washington Post, many suspect Iranian hard-liners are behind it! Great friends, these Iranians.
The State Department announced that the Americans had gone missing on Sunday; unconfirmed reports said they were taken away at gunpoint. A senior Iraqi official said the missing Americans were contractors and that they’d disappeared two days before the announcement was made.
“We are aware of reports that American citizens are missing in Iraq,” said State Department spokesman John Kirby.
“The safety and security of American citizens overseas is our highest priority. We are working with the full cooperation of the Iraqi authorities to locate and recover the individuals. Due to privacy considerations, I have nothing further.”
However, pan-Arab satellite news network al-Arabiya reported that the kidnapping was carried out by “militias.” The wording is key, as a significant number of these so-called “militias” are little more than Iranian front groups backed by the government in Tehran.
“Some analysts who closely follow Iran and its regional proxies suggested Sunday that the abduction of American citizens in Baghdad, if true, may have been a projection of Iranian power, in particular by hard-liners who opposed the prisoner deal with the United States over the weekend,” the Post reported.
The first question suggests itself immediately — if Tehran can’t control hard-line elements within its own power structure from carrying out kidnappings of Americans in other countries, what’s to say they can stop them from continuing work on a nuclear bomb? Or, God forbid, using a nuclear bomb?
Of course, there’s the scarier (and unfortunately, more likely) conclusion that Tehran doesn’t want to control these elements. After all, they just got 21 Iranian criminals more or less pardoned in exchange for four Americans prosecuted and persecuted merely for being American. They got Obama to bow down and apologize after they took 10 U.S. sailors.
Three innocent Americans kidnapped by hard-line elements within the Khamenei regime? That’s worth a whole lot — including more power for the most extreme theocratic voices coming out of Tehran.
