DEFEND YOUR RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS

The Second Amendment is the only permit law-abiding gun owners should need to possess a firearm or carry it concealed for self-defense. Period.  And if you agree that government has NO business restricting this right, this will make you mad. The Trojan Horse Gun Bill is back. I'm talking about, the so-called "National Reciprocity Act," or more appropriately named "National CCW Registration Act." You see, if it ever were to pass and become law, it's literally the blue-print gun-grabbers need to begin the process of nationalizing the currently state-run CCW systems. Worse, it undermines all of the progress gun owners have made passing Constitutional Carry bills in states all across the country. Now, like you, I want to be able to carry my lawfully possessed firearms across state lines without breaking some obscure and unconstitutional state or local gun law. But trusting the most anti-gun President in our lifetime along with his gun-and-ammo-banning Federal bureaucrats to implement this plan is a recipe for disaster. Expecting the nation's most anti-gun city and state lawmakers to change their tune when it comes to violating the Constitution and state preemption laws is a setup for disappointment. Once gun owners let Federal Obamacrats mandate whether states recognize permit reciprocity, they will want to mandate what it takes to get and keep those permits. Now you may hear that the proposed version of the bill doesn't do that, and maybe that's true ... for now. But, eduardo, this is exactly how Federal Government overreach starts.  Today they pass it. Tomorrow they regulate it. What may start off as a well intentioned idea by some lawmakers virtually always becomes a federal mandate. Time and time again we've seen what happens next. States that don't go along willingly, end up being bribed with federal funds and beaten into submission by Washington. It doesn't take a crystal ball to predict how proposals like the "National CCW Registration Act" can be abused by this lawless President, or future anti-gun lawmakers. Imagine what a de-facto "National Carry" permit would look like: *** More onerous standards to acquire a permit, so that only FBI agents can pass muster (look at New York's permit); *** Higher fees; *** More training requirements; *** A demonstration of "Need" for a permit; *** More frequent renewal periods; *** New bans on carry by law-abiding citizens without due process; *** Federally-mandated waiting periods; *** A national REAL ID / Dangerous ID database of all permit holders, accessible by Attorney General Eric Holder; *** An extensive, federally-created list of Criminal Safezones, where only criminals will carry and where law-abiding gun owners are vulnerable. The list of potential problems is endless. But don't just take my word for it. Radical anti-gun Democrats tried to tack many of these very same ideas on to this bill in 2011, and you'll bet they'll keep trying. Once the Federal Government is in the business of setting the standards for concealed carry permits, it's only a matter of time before they start using that power to restrict our rights. After all, registration virtually always leads to CONFISCATION. Unfortunately, some well-intentioned lawmakers have fallen victim to the institutional beltway lobbyists who believe in mandatory government-issued carry permits. I hope you don't fall for it too.  This bill isn't just about the right to carry for self-defense -- it's a battle over the role of government -- and the ability to restrict our Second Amendment rights. I carry concealed every day, everywhere I go, and your National Association for Gun Rights has worked to expand the ability of citizens to carry in dozens of states. But the National CCW Registration Act threatens to shred Constitutional Carry that's legal in Arizona, Alaska, Vermont and Wyoming. It threatens to derail all of the progress we've made in States like Kansas, West Virginia, Maine, Montana, South Dakota and New Hampshire.  Mark my words, the National CCW Registration Act, will become nothing more than a Trojan Horse for even more federal gun control. It fits in line with Washington's grab for more power and less individual liberty. Just look at how the statists in Congress are trying to adopt a National ID card, complete with biometric data. They've forced the states to conform to their mandated drivers license "standards", and they're pressing forward with national databases of employees (E-Verify) and patients (Obamacare).
