(The Hill) - Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) may have chosen April 13 as the date to launch a presidential bid.
The Miami Herald is reporting Rubio may be planning to announce his candidacy at an event in downtown Miami’s Freedom Tower on that date.
It is one of several venues Rubio is considering, according to the Herald.
It would be less than a week after Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) expected candidacy announcement April 7.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) became the first major candidate to officially announce a 2016 bid earlier this week.
Rubio has struggled in polls so far. He ranks seventh among GOP contenders with 5 percent support, according to a polling average by RealClearPolitics.
