REVOLT: Carson Teaming With Trump to Get Huge Revenge on Debate Organizers

REVOLT: Carson Teaming With Trump to Get Huge Revenge on Debate Organizers

OCTOBER 29, 2015 10:15 AM
(Conservative Tribune) – Ben Carson’s campaign manager said that he would be reaching out to Donald Trump’s campaign to work together to propose changes to the Republican debates to prevent another fiasco like Wednesday night’s CNBC program.
After the debate ended Wednesday, Carson campaign manager Barry Bennett railed against the current debate format, the Washington Examiner reported.
“There’s not enough time to talk about your plans, there’s no presentation. It’s just a slugfest,” he said. “All we do is change moderators. And the trendline is horrific. So I think there needs to be wholesale change here.”
“(T)hese debates as structured by the RNC are not helping the party,” he added.

Bennett said he planned to speak with the managers of Trump’s and Carly Fiorina’s campaigns to propose a joint effort to force changes.
“I will call those guys and say, ‘Listen, we can choose our own network and our own format. We don’t need to be led around like prize steers,’” he said.
He predicted being able to “force change” if he can get enough candidates on board, particularly given that Carson and Trump had already succeeded in forcing CNBC to make changes prior to last night. But those changes obviously didn’t go far enough.
Judging from remarks made during the debate itself, Ted Cruz seemed likely to welcome some changes, as well.
“The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don’t trust the media,” Cruz said during the debate. “This is not a cage match.
“And, you look at the questions,” he added. “‘Donald Trump, are you a comic book villain?’ ‘Ben Carson, can you do math?’ ‘John Kasich, will you insult two people over here?’ ‘Marco Rubio, why don’t you resign?’ ‘Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?’ How about talking about the substantive issues the people care about?”
The audience loved it, and supported comments made by Trump, Rubio, and Chris Christie against the moderators, as well.
“Even in New Jersey what you’re doing is called rude,” Christie said.
If this election cycle has been about anything, it has been about reflecting the desire of the American people to re-take the power to choose its leaders out of the hands of an elite few. The desire to change a debate format largely dictated by Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is merely the latest symptom of that movement.
And the RNC had better figure that out, quick, or risk watching the election unfold from the sidelines for the next 12 months.
