Donate Now She Needs God’s Hope Shalom Burned. Tortured. Looted. Driven out. Even killed. This is the horrific plight of Middle East Christians – and Christians in other areas around the globe. ISIS and other terror groups are murdering Christians – even beheading them – and brutally assaulting woman and young girls. Thousands have been forced to flee their homes to escape the terror. And now – as their homes and communities have been burned to the ground – they have nothing to go back to and nowhere else to turn. I believe you will join me in saying that this deadly violence and persecution against Christians is heartbreaking and unconscionable. Nowhere in the Middle East is the personal devastation more apparent than in the life of Najat Yaakob. Now 80, Najat lives in a completely run-down basement apartment that has no windows, very little light, and is full of mold and dirt. Before the barbaric ISIS raids in her town, Najat was a retired educator. “The doorbell rang and two Islamic State (ISIS) soldiers barged into the house,” Najat says with tears in her eyes. “They wanted to kidnap my nephew, put explosives on him and make him a suicide bomber.” Najat knew she had to flee immediately and seek refuge in nearby Jordan. So with three disabled adult relatives in her care, she had to move quickly but carefully to avoid the fury and hatred of the ISIS terrorists. This family of new refugees found shelter in Amman, Jordan, with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. They had no food, no water, and no idea where they would live long-term. Still, they remained thankful to be free of the atrocities being waged by ISIS. Sadly, in the sunset years of her life, Najat is uncertain day-to-day if there will be enough to care for herself, her two adult nieces, and her nephew. Given her relatives’ severely limited mental state, she has nowhere to turn and no one to help her. But the good news is that you can make a huge difference in her life right now by providing food, shelter, and critically needed medical care for Najat and her refugee family.
