Pro-democracy funds suspended for 90 days. All Cuba projects impacted.

The Center for a Free Cuba is being impacted by the suspension of pro-democracy funds effective retroactively on January 24, 2025 via a memorandum from the Office of Management and Budget in the White House.
The memorandum requires Federal agencies to identify and review all Federal financial assistance programs and supporting activities consistent with the President's policies and requirements.
We were informed about this via e-mail on the afternoon of January 27, 2025, and the need to "stop all work on the program and not incur any new costs after the suspension date." In a Zoom call later that afternoon we were told that it would be a 90-day pause.
We are confident that CFC's programs are in line with the President's policies and requirements, and look forward to an external evaluation.
However, in the meantime, this means that we will have to rely on more private funds to send medicines to families of jailed dissidents, provide smartphones and laptops, and ensure internet access for the uncensored flow of information in and out of the island over the next three months.
We are seeking to raise $50,000 dollars to maintain the Center's level of activity over the next 90 days.
