PA’s Erekat Furious that Obama left Palestinians out of UN Speech

The Palestinians are angry that US President Obama did not mention their plight in his recent speech at the UN General Assembly.
Senior Palestinian Authority (PA) official and chief negotiator Saeb Erekat said he was “disappointed” with US President Barack Obama for not mentioning the Palestinians and the Israeli “occupation” during his address at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported.
“Does President Obama think he can beat ISIS (Islamic State) and terrorism or achieve peace and security in the Middle East by ignoring the constant Israeli occupation, settlement activity and attacks on al-Aqsa mosque?” Erekat charged.
Obama discussed the diplomatic process between Israel and the PA in his 2013 and 2014 addresses at the GA, but made no mention of it this year.
On Sunday, PA Chair Mahmoud Abbas warned international leaders of the “potential danger” in the ongoing violence on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Speaking on Palestine TV, Abbas said he told world leaders, in a series of meetings on the sidelines of the UN session in New York, that “the whole world” should be aware of what is happening at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
He claimed that Israel was seeking to escalate the conflict, while Israel has repeatedly denied the charge, blaming Abbas for inciting the violence at Judaism’s holiest site.
The ongoing violent rioting by Palestinians at the site continued on Monday, as Jews celebrated the holiday of Sukkot,
Abbas is slated to address the UN General Assembly on Wednesday. He threatened to “drop a bombshell” at the end of his speech, without providing further details.

Petition to the United States and European Union
We demand that all funding of the PA be stopped immediately. Unity with Hamas led to brutal murders, thousands of rockets and ongoing incitement against Israeli citizens. Prosecuting Israel for “war crimes” is despicable and makes funding the PA against US law.
