Secret ISIS Lair Littered with U.S.-Made Guns
Fighters use tunnels to move undetected, avoid airstrikes
The extremist fighters used the tunnels to move undetected and avoid coalition airstrikes.
The amazing network of abandoned tunnels appeared to be wired with electricity, with a series of sleeping quarters set out, lined with sandbags and curtains for privacy.
Prescription drugs and painkillers were seen on the floor, along with copies of the Quran and US manufactured boxes of ammunition and bomb-making equipment.
The narrow tunnels, carved with jackhammers or other handheld equipment, were just tall enough for a man to stand in.
There were also washing lines to hang the militants’ clothes
“Daesh dug these trenches in order to hide from airstrikes and have free movement underground as well as to store weapons and explosives. This was their military arsenal.”
He added that the Kurdish fighters had been able to cut-off the vital supply line from the ISIS de-facto capital in Raqqa, Syria, to Mosul, the terror group’s stronghold in Iraq.
Commander Eado added that the army had uncovered two mass graves in the area as well.
One grave uncovered 78 elderly women’s bodies while another contained between 50 and 60 bodies of men, women and children.
Yesterday, it was reported that France had bombed an Islamic State Iraq command centre as President Hollande continues the revenge attacks after the massacre in Paris.
The command centre is based in Tal Afar, which is about 45km from ISIS stronghold Mosul.
The news come as a monitoring Syrian group claimed that the intense bombing raids had led some ISIS leaders and their families to flee Raqqa and move to Mosul in northern Iraq.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added at least 33 jihadists have been killed and dozens more wounded in the past 72 hours by French and Russian planes.
During the four minute clip, an image shows the flags of 60 nations the terrorists declare are part of a global coalition against the Islamic State.
The UK is among them, alongside the US, Japan, Canada, France and Australia.
