(Conservative Tribune) – There are some who will say that you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.
Do not count Chris Ashley — the pastor of Cowan Road Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi — among them.
According to WLOX-TV, the church decided to put out a sign expressing its thoughts after the Paris attacks.
And believe me, it was a definite doozy.

“Jesus is God, Allah is Satan,” the sign read, before referencing Joshua 24:15.
“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” that passage reads.
Needless to say, Muslims were significantly displeased.
“I felt that it was slanderous and that it was a hateful message. Anytime, we’ve never slandered anything that Christians on the coast do,” Ari Cooper said.
Another Gulfport-area Muslim said he believed the recent Paris attacks had made people Islamophobic.
“I think it’s more of ignorance when you lump a group of people to this big category because of one act that one person may have committed or several people have committed,” Salaam told reporters.
“If people would take the time to study, not what other people tell them, but study what the facts are then a lot of this confusion would be cleared up.”
However, Pastor Ashley isn’t backing down.
“God laid it on my heart less than 30 minutes before the beginning of that service to proclaim that Allah of the Quran is Satan, and that Jesus is the true God,” Ashley said in a statement provided to Freedom Outpost. “I did. Finishing the sign just minutes before the service. No malice. No judging (except for Allah and Satan). No hatred. Just obedience.”
“I have NO idea why God has put me (of all people) to be in this, but my prayer is to be obedient until the end,” he added. “I humbly ask for your prayers as well.”
Ashley has also scheduled a public debate with a Muslim man who left him a message on his answering machine challenging him to one. The debate will occur on Dec. 5.
