Presidential Candidate Boldly Defends Christianity… Atheists Are HOPPING Mad

Presidential Candidate Boldly Defends Christianity… Atheists Are HOPPING Mad

NOVEMBER 25, 2015 10:29 AM
(Conservative Tribune) – Seven Republican presidential hopefuls recently attended the Presidential Family Forum in Des Moines, Iowa, where one of the topics for discussion was the Christian faith.
One candidate, in particular, issued a powerful statement in support of Christian leaders and the use of their faith in making important decisions, and her stance had atheists fuming.
“(P)eople of faith make better leaders,” Carly Fiorina boldly stated during the forum.
Fiorina, an outspoken Christian, consistently talks openly about her faith and how it positively impacts her ability to lead.
“I do think it’s worth saying that people of faith make better leaders because faith gives us humility,” she said. ”Faith teaches us that no one of us is greater than any other one of us, that each of us are gifted by God. Faith gives us empathy.”
Atheists across the country expressed their anger over the former CEO’s statement, and one activist, in particular, dismissed her comments as a form of “bigotry” against nonbelievers.
Fiorina explained that faith allows people to find redemption when they fall, giving every individual who possesses it “optimism” — something that is arguably necessary for our leaders to have in today’s world.

“It gives us the belief that there is something better — that there is someone bigger than all of us,” she said. “And so I think that it’s important that we elect a leader of faith … who knows that more prayer, not less, is necessary in public life and in all our lives.”
Watch Fiorina’s remarks below:
Several well known atheist activists blasted Fiorina over the comments, including David Silverman, president of American Atheists, and Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
In a tweet, Silverman labeled the GOP contender as a bigot, writing, “Perhaps @CarlyFiorina would like to clarify? Why are atheists worse leaders, exactly? #bigotryisstupid #bigotryisugly.”
Gaylor had a more harsh response and devoted an entire op-ed to criticize Fiorina over the comments.
“Isn’t the Islamic State led by ‘people of faith’ who want more — not less — prayer in public life?” Gaylor wrote. “Weren’t the terrorists who attacked Paris last week and last February ‘people of faith’? Was not Osama bin Laden a leader with faith?”
‘”People of faith’ have, needless to say, launched many a war or violent assault in the name of faith,” Gaylor continued. “Far from instilling humility, such confidence that they know what God wants them to do has scorched our Earth.”
I don’t see Fiorina backing off from her claim that Christians are better leaders, and it’s a good thing, too … because she’s right.
For evidence, just look to the words of our nation’s earliest leaders. Daniel Webster, our country’s 14th secretary of state, once said: “If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper.”
