MICHAEL SAVAGE NEWSLETTER: Who said the object of life is to be happy?

The_Doctor_Is_InWelcome to The Michael Savage Newsletter, your daily report on all things “Savage.”
In today’s issue: Dr. Savage took a little diversion from politics on “The Savage Nation” and put on his counselor hat, as he often does, taking a call from a listener who said he struggles to make his wife and children happy.
“Let’s back off. Let’s stop with the happy,” Savage told the caller. “Who said that that’s the object of life, is to make someone happy?”
This is an interesting question. America has become a nation of narcissists who think that their every minute should be a happy moment.
It’s impossible to ever be happy every second, which is why there are so many nervous breakdowns, drug use – whether it’s legitimate or illegitimate drugs – people are seeking happiness every second, which is not the norm for the human condition.
Happiness is not the norm.
There’s an occasional moment of happiness along the way. Most of it’s a grind, a struggle.
Do you know that or not?
[“Yes, now I do, listening to you,” the caller replied.]
Well, I’m telling you …
Here’s now I see it. And consider me an old-fashioned personality, but I’ve analyzed it my whole life.
If you stop looking for happiness and you realize life is difficult, life is hard, you’re probably going to be unhappy all your life – that’s, so what?
Then, most of your quest for happiness will stop eating you alive.
You may actually have some moments of peace.
But if you’re seeking that golden ring on the merry-go-round, as the horse goes round and round and you can’t grab it, you will only get more and more frustrated.
And you’ll feel like there’s something wrong, and you’re wondering how to make it right, and it’s every second.
