(Breitbart) – Donald Trump is number one in a new nationwide poll from Quinnipiac University, with a seven-percentage point lead over all other GOP presidential candidates. Trump took 20 percent in the poll, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker comes in second with 13 percent.
The third candidate according to the poll is former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush with 10 percent.
All other GOP presidential candidates come in under double digits.
Dr. Ben Carson, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) came in with six percent. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Ohio Gov. John Kasich came in with five percent.
Even thought Trump leads the GOP field, the poll found 30 percent of voters say they definitely wouldn’t support him, which is up from 21 percent from Quinnipiac’s poll from May.
Roughly 37 percent of Republican women said they wouldn’t support Trump.
The female leading the Democratic field also would beat Trump in a head to head match up, according to the poll.
“And in general election match-ups, Trump lags far behind three potential Democratic opponents: He trails both Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden in head-to-head matchups by 12 points, while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) holds an 8-point lead over Trump,” reported CNN.
The two GOP candidates to give Clinton a run for her money were Bush and Walker, who came in about even with Clinton, according to the poll.
For the Democrats, Clinton is still their frontrunner. The poll has the former Secretary of State coming in with 55 percent support. Sanders came in second with 17 percent.
“Adding the Quinnipiac poll to the CNN Poll of Polls, we find that across the last five national telephone polls, Trump averages 19% support, followed by Bush at 13% and Walker at 12%. Paul and Rubio stand at 6% each, Carson, Cruz and Huckabee at 5%, withNew Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Kasich rounding out the top 10 at 3%,” CNN reported.
According to favorability ratings from all voters, voters find Trump 59 percent unfavorable, and 27 percent favorable. However, he does better among Republican voters with only 33 percent finding him unfavorable, and 50 percent finding Trump favorable.
CNN noted, “Nearly 6-in-10 say Trump is not honest and trustworthy (58%) and slightly more (63%) say he does not care about the needs and problems of people like you. Still, Trump’s appeal lies more in his assertiveness than empathy: 58% say he has strong leadership qualities.”
The poll had a plus or minus margin of error of 3.7 percent and surveyed 710 Republican and right leaning voters. The full sample was derived from 1,644 voters with a plus or minus margin of error of 2.4 points.
