Report: Israel Attacks Target in Syria Close to Israeli Border

Mysterious unconfirmed reports have emerged of an Israel Air Force attack in Syria close to the border with Israel, causing casualties.
Arab media outlets reported Wednesday that an Israel Air Force (IAF) drone attacked a target in the Quneitra area in Syria. There are reports of at least two casualties. The target was reportedly a car.
The Hezbollah- affiliated Al-Manar news site reported that the two men killed were members of a pro-Assad militia. However, local opposition members say that Hezbollah terrorists were killed in the strike.
The IDF neither confirmed nor denied that it carried out the strike, stating that it does not respond to foreign reports, as is its custom in these situations.
It is also possible that the incident was related to the civil war being waged in Syria rather than an IDF operation.

Previous Reports on IAF Attacks

Similar reports of IAF strikes in Syria and Lebanon have emerged in the past.

There were several unconfirmed reports of IAF attacks in Lebanon and Syria during April and June.
Lebanon claims it has recovered an IAF drone that crashed into the sea off the coast in July.
The most noted attack occurred in January. An alleged IAF strike in the same area killed six Hezbollah terrorists and six Iranian soldiers, including an Iranian senior general and Jihad Mughniyeh, commander of Hezbollah operations in the Golan Heights and son of Hezbollah chief Imad Mughniyeh, who was allegedly assassinated by Israel’s Mossad in Syria in 2008.
Similar reports emerged in December when Syrian military officials charged that Israeli fighters attacked its military installations situated near the Syrian capital and on the border with Lebanon. The targets were stockpiles of advanced Russian-made missiles on their way from the Syrian army to Hezbollah, the Shi’ite terror organization operating out of Lebanon. No one was injured in the attack.
The IDF reportedly attacked a shipment of advanced arms en route to Hezbollah from Syria in February 2014. In November 2013, Israel allegedly launched a rocket from the sea at a Syrian naval base in Latakia. In 2007, Israel reportedly attacked the Syrian Al-Kibar nuclear facility.
